Thailand head coach, Bryan Robson had announced the final squad of 17 players for a friendly match against 2010 World cup’s host South Africa. The match will kick off 3.00 PM local time (8.00 PM Thailand time), this Sunday.

The final squad consisted of 17 players from 4 clubs, as follow

There were numbers of withdrawal from the squad especially some key players, due to injuries and personal reasons. These will definitely affect to overall performance of team. The players who had withdrawn from squad are Kirati Keawsombat, Suchao Nutnum, Rangsan Vivatchaichok (all from Buriram PEA), Teerasil Dangda, Natapon Phanrit, Phichitphong Choeichiu (all from Muangthong United), Kraikitti In-Utane (TTM FC Phichit) and lastly Suree Sukha (Chonburi FC)

Al Rayyan 1 - 1 Muangthong United (aet. 2-4 pens)

Thai Champions, Muangthong United secured tickets to quarter final stage of AFC Cup after a crucial winning over Qatar’s side Al Rayyan.

Both teams played with lack of some important players from injuries and bans, Al Rayyan without Cote d’Ivoire striker, Amara Diane and Brazilian defender, Marcelo Tavares. While Muangthong missed Captain - Natapon Phanrit, as well as team’s top scorer Soumahoro Yaya and Mohamed Kone.

Muangthong started the game with better performance. Striker Teerasil Dangda giving the lead in 17th minute. But five minutes before the break, Afonso Alves equalised for Rayyan from penalty kick after Daniel Goumou fouled by Jetsada Jitsawad inside the box. Half time score 1-1.

Both teams were still leveled in normal time. The match went to 30 minutes extra-time. It was the host, Al Rayyan who have more chance to score a winning goal, but fail to pass Muangthong goalkeeper, Kawin Thamsatchanan. Finally it’s a shootout to define a match winner.

Both Muangthong and Al Rayyan also missed the second penalty. Piyachart Thamaphan and Murad Naji sent the ball over the crossbar.

Phichitphong Choeichiu, 4th penalty taker from Muangthong converted into goal. But Daniel Goumou’s shot was saved by Kawin. gave the visitor chance to win. And finally, Teerasil Dangda scored winning penalty. Muangthong won the shootout 4-2.
